Larry A. Thomas, age 70 of Mansfield, peacefully went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, where he got his wings and a new set of lungs. He was born on December 22, 1955, in London, England, to the late Harry W. and Jean P. (Fry) Thomas, and on August 2, 1975, he married the love of his life, Kim (Lucas).
Larry retired from General Motors after 23 years, and he was a member of Mansfield Open Bible Church. Before his illness, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. Larry bled brown and orange and was a huge Cleveland sports fan. He enjoyed spending time on Lake Erie, and in his younger years, he competed in various walleye fishing tournaments. Larry loved sitting and listening to his music, especially his classic rock, but above all, he loved his family, and he was deeply proud of his kids and his grandkids. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Kim Thomas; his son Luke (Beverly) Thomas; his siblings Mike (Tammy) Thomas and Michele (Dale) Watt; his grandchildren Tyler (Maggie) Thomas, Morgan Thomas, Brooklyn Thomas, Kailee Thomas, and Ally Simmons; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Jean Thomas and his son Lee Thomas.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield. Services will follow at 5:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Dink Porter officiating.
The family would like to offer a special thank-you to the staff of the ICU at Avita Health System – Ontario Hospital for the excellent care they took of Larry, especially nurse Krista and Dr. Leung.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, PO Box 70360, Philadelphia, PA 19176.
