Laurie F. (Makowski) Wheeler

Laurie F. Wheeler, 56, of Mansfield, passed away Friday, January 14, 2022. 

Laurie was born on September 21,1965 in Mansfield, Ohio to the late Frank Makowski and Victoria (Arras) Simon.

She is an alumnus from Madison High School class of 1983.  She was fortunate enough to marry her best friend in 2006 and they enjoyed many adventures together. Laurie worked at Hi-Stat in Lexington for 25 years. Later in life, Laurie pursued and earned two bachelor’s degrees, because “One wasn’t enough.” There wasn’t anything Laurie couldn’t do. If she didn’t know how to, she learned. A wiz at math and science, a strong martial arts student and teacher. A DIY’er from the core. Her and Michael bought a historically old house that was scheduled for demolition by Mansfield city and rebuilt it. Her friends recognized Laurie for “the force of nature” she was. She also enjoyed baking and trying her hand at various creative crafts; as well as spending time with her pets and family.  And she didn’t distinguish between friends and family, everyone was family in her house.  Laurie was also an avid motorcyclist, a family tradition passed down from her late father, Frank.

She will be missed deeply by her family.  They include her husband, Michael Wheeler; children, Heather Brady, John (Brittney) Brady, Tawnee (Matthew) Temple, Breanna (Chris) Fyffe, and Grant Heran; grandchildren, Eliana Brady, Lamount Miller, Deanna Roberts, Jackson, Jocelyn, and Ariella; and four great-grandchildren; as well as many extended family members and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents.
