Lois K. Zimmer, formerly of Mansfield, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where she lived in the home of her son, Jim, for the past seven years. She was 96 years old.
She was born on January 22, 1924, in Avondale, Michigan, to Rev. A.N. and Florence Fields. Her father was a pastor who started numerous Baptist churches in northern Michigan. She was the youngest of 4 children. She studied music at Moody Bible Institute and later taught private piano lessons for many years. She also played the piano for Grand Valley Baptist Church in Michigan and taught Sunday school classes. She was a devoted wife and loving mother who enjoyed helping and ministering to others.
Lois was married to Willard L. Zimmer, who was a home-missionary with Missions to Military. Together they operated the Military Christian Centers in Fayetteville and Goldsboro, North Carolina. She was loved and called “mom” by many military personnel who came through the Military Christian Center.
After retiring from Missions to Military, she moved to Mansfield, Ohio, where she and her husband, Willard, became active members of Mansfield Baptist Temple.
Lois is survived by her sons, Jim (Kyla) Zimmer, Winston-Salem, NC and Ron (Charleen) Zimmer, Nescopeck, PA; a daughter, Janet (Kent) Robacker, Norfolk, VA; and daughter-in-law, Charlotte Higgins, Mansfield, OH, wife of deceased, son Bob Zimmer. She has left behind 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are being made through Huff Funeral Home in Eastbend, North Carolina and Werner-Gump Funeral Home in Mansfield, Ohio.
A celebration of her life will be held when the risk of COVID-19 is past.
