Magdalene Smith

Magdalene Smith, 93, of Ashland, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2020.

Magdalene was born on February 14, 1927, in Elliot County, KY, to Fred A. and Zora (Lyons) Smith. She retired from the News Journal. Magdalene was an excellent cook and housekeeper, and enjoyed tending to her flower garden.

She is survived by her children, James A. (Regina) Mabry and Phyllis (Mabry) Shaum; five grandchildren, Jacqueline Dingus, Jarrod Shaum, Sairah Fields, Chance Mabry and Cody Mabry; eight great-grandchildren, Collin Dingus, Aidan Dingus, Tristan Dingus, Brecindra Shaum, Jada Price, Tyson Price, Chandler Mabry and Owen Mabry;and siblings, Worley T. Smith, Ruth A. Fannin, and Ada Debord.

Magdalene was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Howard D. Smith, Stirl Smith, Emory S. Smith, Jesse Smith, Beulah Smith, Omega Oppenheimer, Daisel Allen, and Sue Adams.

Private services will be held at a later date.
