Marcella F Shenberger

Marcella F. Shenberger (nee Heiser) “Mickie” of Lucas, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2020, at home.

Mickie was born on March 19, 1930, in Monroe Falls, Ohio, to Homer and Evelyn Heiser. One of ten children, she grew up in the Tallmadge area, spending time with grandparents on a farm in New Philadelphia, Ohio. Mickie and her best friend, Millie, moved to Mansfield when she was 17, to help open Bethel’s Restaurant in Mansfield, where she made lifelong friendships. There she met the love of her life, Virgil. After two years, they married and began their next 44 years together in Lucas, where they worked side by side running Shenberger’s Friendly Service for over 30 years until their retirement. Mickie loved her life, home, and most of all, Virgil and her family. 

She is survive d by daughter, Evelyn (Mike) Lee; granddaughters, Stephanie Lee and Laura Weisman (Scott Smith); great-granddaughters, Celeste (Niles) and Allison Weisman; siblings, Betty (Don) Dean, Helen (Jim) Colbert, Russ (Linda) and John (Cindy) Heiser; along with a host of in-laws and family.

Mickie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Virgil; her parents; and siblings, Alfred and Homer, Ruth Donahue, Isie Ripley, and Barbara Donavan; and best friend, Millie Porter.

Calling hours will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Werner Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Ave. East, Mansfield. Calling hours will also be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 20, 2020, with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Lucas.
