Melvin loved his family and his extended family. He will miss his West Virginia family as much as his Ohio family. He was an avid Browns and Indians fan, and enjoyed watching westerns, fishing, hunting, gardening, and canning.

He is survived by his children, Audrey (Michael) Mount, Robert Keffer, Jim (Vanessa) Swanger, and Tammy Cox; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Norris Keffer, Arden Keffer; sisters, Lou (Joe) Harris and Sue Frailey; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and ex-nieces and ex-nephews.

Along with his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Keffer; and two sons, Melvin Keffer, Jr. and Doug Swanger.
