Michael Smith, 70, of Perrysville, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2021, after a brief hospitalization.
Michael was born September 19, 1950, in Olive Hill, Kentucky to William and Victoria Elsie Smith, moving to Mansfield in 1967. He worked for both Flexible and Myers Pump in Loudonville and retired from Empire Detroit Steel in Mansfield. Michael was married to his beloved wife and best friend, Dorothy, for 50 years.
Michael enjoyed his family and was a gifted woodworker, creating many treasures for his loved ones. He spent a lot of time outdoors, gardening and feeding his birds. He and his wife antiqued for years, collecting special items, and making memories together.
Michael was survived by his wife, Dorothy Smith; one son, Michael Smith Jr.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Greg and Rebecca Henderson and Howard and Melissa Grimmett; and nine grandchildren, Chase, Charlee, Emmilyn, Ina, Hoben, Justin, Adam, Noah, and Benjamin.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, William and Victoria Elsie Smith; four sisters, Louise McEndree, Avis Flinders, Mary Stone, and Lovedia Trent; and nine brothers, Lanaham, Ralph, Bobby, Glendal, James, Walter, Cleotis, George, and Carmel Smith.
The immediate family will be having a private graveside ceremony.
