Mildred Stofer, 100, of Mansfield, went to be with her Lord on Friday, November 27, 2020.
Mildred was born January 6, 1920 in Mansfield to Lester and Ida Johns, and resided in Mansfield all of her life. She graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1938. She was a bookkeeper at Goetz hardware for four years, and married John R. Stofer in 1942. She was a homemaker for ten years, spending quality time with her three children, teaching a Bible Class in her home. She taught a Sunday School Class, sang in the choir and participated in all activities in the church. She continued a working career at the Richland County Courthouse in the personal property tax department under Noman L. Wolfe, County Auditor, for 20 years, retiring in 1980. Mildred attended the Mansfield Alliance Church in her later years.
She is survived by a son, Mark( Sharon) Stofer of Mansfield, daughter, Carol Schoonmaker of Mansfield; daughter-in-law, Diane Stofer of Mooresville, NC; eight grandchildren, Michael (Herma), Kevin and Jeff (Rose) Stofer, Andrew (Amy) Stofer, Jonathon Stofer, and Heather (Nathan) Bond, Aaron Schoonmaker, and Beth (Matt) Bachmann; and six great-grandchildren; and nephew,Thomas (Ellen) Johns.
Her loving husband, John, of 54 years; a son, Greg Stofer; a brother, Edwin Johns; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Doris Stofer; and a nephew, Thomas Stofer, all preceded her in death.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Oak Grove Memorial Park, Lexington.
