Nora "Jean" (Flenner) Steele

Nora “Jean” (Flenner) Steele, 86, of Shelby, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2022.

Jean was born on September 10, 1935, in Lucas, to Charles H. and Helen (Rummel) Flenner. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lucas, a member of the local Hazel Grove Grange, a seventh-degree member of the National Grange, and a member of the Sunshine Club.  She enjoyed playing the piano, scrapbooking, sewing, dancing, playing cards at the Shelby Senior Center, golfing, and bowling.

She is survived by her children, Charles (Karen) Steele and Debra (Marty) Hull both of Shelby, Donald (Melanie) Steele of Mansfield, Connie (Enis) Akgerman of Plano, TX, and Ron Steele of Delaware; grandchildren, Patrick (Jamie) Steele of Columbus, Brandon (Amanda) Steele of Obetz, Alison (Adam) Hill of Atlanta, GA, Derek (Katie) Steele of Shelby, Scott (Britni) Hull of Ashland, Brian Hull of Mansfield, Lauren Akgerman of Herndon, VA, Matthew Akgerman of Plano, TX, Becky (Derek) Ensman of Mansfield, Jon (Nicole) Gardner of Hilliard, Josh (Kayla) Gardner of Danville, Michelle Mathie of Ashland, Kristi Wood of Sandusky, and Cyndi Gardner of Mansfield, ; and great-grandchildren, Victoria Steele, Veronica Steele, Nathan Steele all of Columbus, Morgan Steele and Lexie Steele, both of Obetz, Lincoln Hill of Atlanta, GA, Charlie Steele of Shelby, Kallen and Kaylee Hull both of Ashland, William Daniels, Ryan Gardner and Mackenzie Gardner all of Mansfield, Lily Gardner of Danville, Carter Mathie of Ashland, Clayton Steele, Lindsay Steele and Andan Gorsuch all of Sandusky, Aliana Ensman of Mansfield,  and Brandon, Taylor, Logan, and Ava Copper all of Hilliard.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; great-granddaughter, Cadence Gardner; and sister, Janet Glasener.

Calling hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 28, 2022, at Werner Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Kathy Kollar officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Lucas.
