Ora Hamilton Obituary

Ora Thomas Hamilton, 87, passed away in his sleep on Friday, December 18, 2020 while visiting Yatesville, Georgia.

He was born February 17, 1933 in Triplet, Kentucky to the late Mirl and Ollie Mae (Nickell) Hamilton.  Tom served three years in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged.  He retired from G.M. after 36 years and was a member of the local 549 UAW.

Tom loved the Lord and was a member of the Dean Road Freewill Baptist Church.  He was an avid gardener and spent most of his time outdoors working, fishing and hunting.  He also found much joy in square dancing with his wife and was a member of the Johnny Appleseed Square Dance Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty Sparks Hamilton; granddaughter, Stacey Boggs; great grandson, William Dawson; and great granddaughters, Faith and Katherine Boggs.

He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Charma Hamilton; daughter, Cynthia Rush; sons, William (Phyllis) Hamilton and Thomas Randall Hamilton; grandchildren, Lisa (Corey) Dawson, Melinda Hunt, Tony (Wendy) Veleno, Thomas David Hamilton, Kayla (Brendan) Cain, Evan Hamilton; a beloved step-son, William (Laura) Saylor and their children, Brandi (Dillon) Kyer, Tracey (Jared) Schafer, Jesse Leese, Sarah, Bubby Jones; as well as numerous great-grandchildren who he loved dearly; his sisters Margie, Bonnie, and Barbara Sue; and brother, Charles Alfrey.

He leaves behind many family and close friends, including his longtime hunting buddy and dear friend, Darold Harless; and all his friends in the Johnny Appleseeds.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, ltd., 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield, Ohio.  Funeral services will immediately follow, led by Pastor Earl Tackett.  No graveside services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to help cover additional unexpected funeral costs.
