Pamela Hicks Obituary

Pamela S. (Martin) Hicks, 58, of Mansfield, passed into eternity to be with Jesus on Saturday, April 6, 2024. Pam battled complications of Lyme Disease and Pots since 2012.

Pamela was born on September 26, 1965, in Dayton, Ohio to Franklin D. and Susan J. (Lauterbach) Martin. Pam and her husband Brian were together since 1999 and married on September 25th of 2009.

Pam was a 1983 graduate of Lexington High School where she attended Pioneer for medical and dental assisting. She worked her way into retail management and managed several stores including Express and Old Navy. In 2002 Pam went back to Cosmetology school in order to do hair and nails. Even though she loved doing hair, that inner desire of hers to achieve led her to the opening of her own salon in 2005, which she named Salon Studio. Pam worked as a managing cosmetologist at her salon where she made many close quality friends with her clients and staff. She was full of life and laughter on a daily basis. Most who knew Pam would tell you that she had a knack for fashion and decorating and loved to shop for the latest trends.

The light of her life were her three children and her grandchildren, she absolutely loved having them around. Some of Pam’s favorite times were family cookouts and holidays spent with loved ones. She had a laugh that was contagious, oh that laugh! And an even bigger smile. If Pam was around, you were sure to be in a photo because she made certain that she would find you. Family gatherings weren’t complete without the “family photo.” Whether in her vehicle or in the house Pam had to blare her music at top volume, and concerts were always a must.

Pam became ill and had to quit working in 2012, being at home she focused on her love of God and becoming the best person she could through Christ. She would boldly share her faith at any time, cherished time of worship, and the Word of God. When she was able, she continued to spend time with family and friends soaking in every minute she could with them. Her grandchildren soon became the center of her focus and she longed for every day she could spend with them. She never quit trying new things in life as she became quite the baker, cook, and owned a home based and online retail clothing shop (where she once again excelled). No matter what she was doing her love for others continued to grow and she would many times focus on what she could do for others in spite of much of her own suffering. Some of her last words were to “just tell everyone I love them”.

Along with her parents, Pam is survived by her loving husband, Brian Hicks; children, David Gaines, Stephanie Gaines, and Michael (Jamie) Augustine; grandchildren, Haydon Gaines, Luca Livingston, Finley Augustine and Sofia Augustine; siblings, Paula (Scott) Waldruff, Mark (Nicole) Martin, Tracy (Darren) Abernathy; nieces and nephews, Morgan Waldruff, Max Waldruff, Hannah Martin, Ashley Martin, Emma Martin, Brittany (Alex) Broaddus, Brandon Abernathy; and great-nephew, Leo Broaddus.
