Ramon “Ray” Roman, 61, of Mansfield, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital following a long struggle with diabetes.
Ray was born May 8, 1963, in Westwood, New Jersey. He was the son of Pedro Roman Sr. and Maria (Sanchez) Schlauch and was of the Christian faith. Ray was an employee of Stoneridge where he was valued for his great work ethic. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and dogs, especially his companion and service dog, “Eko”. Ray was all about his family, loved them deeply, and loved attending his grandson’s sporting events.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Nancy Roman; three children, Holly Roman, Crystal Roman, and Adam Roman; nine grandsons, Ramon, Mason, Kolten, Landon, Jaiven, Camden, Koby, Dominick, and Avry; several great-grandchildren; five siblings, Edgardo (Janice) Roman, Edna Roman, Yesenia Roman, Pedro Roman, Jr., and Ricardo Roman; one brother-in-law, Robert Salyers; his mother and stepfather, Maria and Orville Schlauch; and many nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his father, Pedro Roman, Sr.; in-laws, Donald and Anna Salyers; brother-in-law, Donald Salyers; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Tenna and David Ison.
Calling hours will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2024, at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, ltd., 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Rick Pelfrey officiating.
