Raymond M. Kurtz, 77, of Mansfield, went to meet His Savior on February 6, 2020.
Raymond was born on October 19, 1942, in Lucas, Ohio to Caleb and Mary (Osborne) Kurtz. He graduated valedictorian from Lucas High School in 1960 and enjoyed basketball and the outdoors which led to his career as a farmer and high school basketball coach for many years. Raymond devoted his time to helping others, while tending to his many gardens.
Raymond was a faithful member of the Mansfield Baptist Temple where he served in many roles, during the course of his life. His wisdom and devotion to his family showed by the example he displayed. He truly exemplified his life verse Micah 6:8. “He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”
He is survived by his wife, Jody Kurtz, whom he married on June 22, 1985; two daughters, Dawn (Keith) Ward, Jaime (Andy) Pounds; four grandchildren, Joni, Kasey and Kayla Ward and Andrew Pounds; and one great-grandson, Kamden. He is also survived by seven siblings, Martha (Wilbur) Brumenshenkel, Jim (Sue) Kurtz, Naomi Harry, Dorothy (Dan) Sorg, Eugene (Brenda) Kurtz, Kenneth (Gwen) Kurtz, George (Debbie) Kurtz; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Heston; and three brothers, John Kurtz Sr., Edward Kurtz, and David Kurtz.
Calling hours will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on February 8, 2020, with services to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Mansfield Baptist Temple, 752 N. Stewart Road, Mansfield, OH, with Pastor Robert J. Kurtz officiating. Burial will follow at Caesarea Cemetery.
