Roger Lee Amos, 74, husband of Stephanie Amos for almost 49 years, died suddenly Wednesday, May 5, 2021. A longtime resident of Mansfield, Roger was born on December 1st, 1946 in Virginia to Claude and Velva Amos and moved with his family to Ohio in the 1950’s.
No one worked harder than Roger. He was the ultimate provider and worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He valued education and was able to send and cover the financial cost of higher education for his wife and 2 daughters. He earned an associated degree and was a journeyman electrician, who was very skilled with his hands and mind.
Roger worked for Mansfield Tire until they closed in late 1970’s. He then worked for General motors for 25+ years until he retired in 2007. Roger then found a new way of working by providing time and skills to the Masons and the Shriners. His heart was in helping others. He would drive families to The Shriners Hospital, working on the Shiners parade cars, and helping the organizations wherever they needed his assistance.
Roger’s passions in life were his wife, daughters, and granddaughters. His hobbies were drag racing, car shows, being outdoors, animals, and tinkering and repairing anything. He enjoyed spending time with the Ashland Road Liars Club. Family and friends could always count on him to lend a helping hand.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Amos; two daughters, Leigh Ann (Brian) Martin and Laura Lynn (Shayne) Kramer; and three granddaughters, Amaya, Alyssa, and Andria.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and 2 brothers, Ken Amos and Dwight Amos.
