Roger D. Hinton, age 80 of Mansfield, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Avita Health System – Ontario Hospital. He was born on February 8, 1945, in Rowan County, Kentucky, to the late Estil and Lucy Hinton.
Roger proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and he later worked in the family business, Hinton’s Inc., for over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and attending church at Faith Chapel on Hanna Rd., as well as spending time with his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife Mary (Smith) Hinton; his son Tim Hinton; his stepsons Doug and Robert Lawhorn; his brothers Paul, Melvin, and Gary Hinton; 6 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Estil and Lucy Hinton, his first wife Virginia “Faye” Hinton, his sons Roger Darrel Hinton and Shane Hinton, and his sister Judy Crider.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield. Services will take place at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mansfield Cemetery.
