Our beloved daughter, fiancée, sister, mom, niece, cousin, and friend, Stacie Lynn Chalk, of Newark passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021 at the young age of 41. She was surrounded by her family and friends at the time of her passing.
Stacie was born on May 1, 1980 in Mansfield, Ohio. She graduated from Lucas High School in 1998, then spent a semester abroad on her favorite island, Costa Rica, earning a certificate in Spanish Translation from the Universidad de Costa Rica. A lifelong learner, Stacie continued her education at multiple institutions, earning an Associate’s degree in Business, Management, and Marketing from North Central State College in 2006, in addition to many other licenses and certifications.
Stacie was a driven professional with an incredible eye for detail and an unmatched work ethic. For the past 10 years, Stacie worked within quality management systems, holding numerous roles including Quality Technician, Quality Assurance Manager, and Director of Quality. Most recently, she worked as a Quality Manager for Prospiant.
Stacie deeply loved her friends, family, chickens, and her dog, Lola, who is named after her best friend. She shared an unbreakable bond with her mother; they could often be found traveling together or going on mother-daughter dates. Stacie had an adventurous spirit; in her free time, you could find her hunting, fishing, getting a new tattoo, or exploring the world. She traveled to many different countries and absolutely loved spending time at the beach. Stacie was also a food connoisseur and a great cook; she enjoyed feeding everyone from family and friends to her coworkers and pets. She was creative and generous; she enjoyed crafting and was always making homemade gifts for family and friends.
Stacie’s vibrant personality brought joy and laughter to those around her. No matter the circumstance, you could always count on leaving with a story of something kind, funny, or maybe even a bit crazy that she did when you were with her. Anyone who knew her would tell you that Stacie loved fiercely, listened intently, and encouraged each of us to be our best selves. Stacie will be missed more than any words could express, but she will live on in our hearts and memories. When you think of Stacie, be sure to celebrate all the good memories you have of her and remember that life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest.
She is survived by her mother, Marsha Garnsey; fiancé Larry Shaw; siblings, Matthew (Leslie) Garnsey and Michelle Garnsey (Jon Brokaw); best friend/sister, Lola Spencer; sons Jesus DeLeon (Brianna Goldy and “lil’ momma” Mila DeLeon) and Kevin (Larissa) DeLeon (Jeremiah, Elianna, and Yanellie); and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Garnsey, and her grandparents.
