Stanford Keen, 92, of Mansfield, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital after a long illness.
Stan was born August 3, 1930 in Fulton, Morrow County, Ohio to the late George and Minda (Boyd) Keen and graduated from Marengo High School with the class of 1949. He met his future bride, Barbara Whyte, when they both worked at the Sears store in downtown Mansfield. Stan worked at Sears for many years in automotive, shipping, and receiving, and sales, retiring in 1992. He bought a recreational vehicle and he and Barbara explored the USA in retirement. Stan was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1951 to 1953. In his younger years, Stan raced go karts and was a long-time member and president of the Dart Kart Speedway Club.
Along with his wife, Stan is survived by four children and their spouses, Tim (Val) Keen, Deb (Dave) Whatman, George (Kim) Keen, and Doug (Michele) Keen; six grandchildren, Kristin Circle, Claudia (Eric) Donahue, Allie (Andrew) Thacker, Caitlin Keen, Brittany McClain, and Bethany Whatman; thirteen great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Juanita Keen of Mount Vernon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Garfield, Roscoe, Oscoe, and Arthur Keen; and two sisters, Maxine Keen and Marie Barton.
Calling hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2023, at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, ltd., 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Joe Smith officiating. Burial will be in Lantz Cemetery.
