Steve Schopp, 65, of Mansfield, passed away on February 2, 2024, after bravely fighting cancer.
Born June 9, 1958, in Mansfield to Joseph and Margaret (Scholler) Schopp, Steve was the proudest father and number one advocate for anything his children did. He was a musician and enjoyed playing in the praise band at McElroy Road Church of Christ, in Escape with his son, Aaron, as well as several other bands over the years. Music was his passion. He was a Cleveland Browns fanatic and “enjoyed” going to games and watching with friends and family. Steve loved traveling to see parks, live music, or just to grab a bite. He also enjoyed riding his Harley and telling jokes.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Beverly Barzanti Schopp; his children, Aaron (Patty) Schopp and Amy (Edward Freeman) Schopp; grandson, Miles Wappner; his aunt, Lucille; brother, Bruce Schopp (Annette & Christina); sister, Barbara (Glen) Miller; cousin/friend, Ann & Daniel Griesbach; his first friend, Joe Sizemore; several nieces and nephews; and the Lakewood Drive neighbors of over 30 years that he considered family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe & Margaret Schopp; and long-time friend, Greg Moats.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to McElroy Road Church of Christ or a charity of your choice.
A celebration of life will be held at McElroy Road Church of Christ, Saturday, February 17, at 10:30 a.m.
