William H. “Bill” Gibson, 78, of Mansfield, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020, following a lengthy illness.
Bill was born on March 25, 1942, in Williamson, WV to Edward “Dewey” and Eula (Stiltner) Gibson. He was married to his soul mate, Julie (Walters) Gibson, for over 54 years. Bill retired from Plymouth Locomotive Inc. after 30 years of employment, and then became a truck driver for over six years. He loved his family, and enjoyed his personal time with his grandchildren. Family gatherings were very important to him and he enjoyed the planning of them. He loved technology, and was proficient in making family videos, taking pictures, working on the computer and smart phone. He enjoyed gaming, and mastered “Command and Conquer”, to the amazement of his grandchildren. He not only watched movies, he enjoyed collecting them as well as going to the theater or drive-in.
Along with his wife, Julie, Bill is survived by his children, Neil Gibson, John (Laura) Gibson, Brian (Sarah) Gibson, Sonja (Willie) Arnt, and William “Billy” Gibson, Ron Shoemaker and Russ (Vicki) Grimm; grandchildren, Casey, Kyrsten, William “Will”, Christian, Justin, Brian Jr, Gabriel, Christina, Tyler, Tanner, Randy, Jeffrey, Johnathan, Taylor and Virginia; great-grandchildren, Ansleigh, MiKayla, Lilly, Georgia, Skyler, Kinsley and Kenna; and sisters, Peggy Schmidt and Jean Mosier.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cindy Ruge; and siblings, Edward Dale Gibson, Don Gibson, and Eva Gail Wheatcraft.
Calling hours will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 13, 2020, at Journey Life Center, 2578 St. Rt. 39, Mansfield, Ohio 44903. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 14, 2020 at the church with Pastor Bruce Philipi officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Windsor Cemetery.
