William Hoelscher Obituary

William Joseph Hoelscher, 69, of Mansfield, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at his home following a battle with cancer.

William was born September 20, 1953, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Robert M. and Ruby E. (Coffman) Hoelscher. He was employed by General Motors and enjoyed photography as a hobby and as a job.

Bill was a perfect example of a Christian. He has followed Christ most of his life but when he was diagnosed with cancer, he became living proof of what it’s like to be a Christian even during trials in his life, even when he knew his life may come to an end he chose to completely rely on his faith in Jesus and his discernment that he was living out Gods Will and not his own. He was a living testimony and remains a testimony. He has taught us that in the storm you must trust in God and that even if a prayer isn’t answered the way we want it to be that we are to remain firm in Christ and trust His plan is greater than ours. He taught us what it’s like to live out your faith even if it means your life coming to an end. It’s easy to be a Christian when life is going your way and you’re healthy but it takes a man on fire for Jesus with the Holy Spirit running through his veins to continue professing the goodness of God even when he isn’t personally experiencing the goodness. He boldly and humbly went against what everyone tried convincing him to do, and fully listened to what God was leading him to do. Bill wasn’t scared of his diagnosis bc he believed in the promises Jesus tells us about in the Bible. He believed enough to continue his life selflessly encouraging others to follow and know Christ. He was a true soldier of Christ. May the eternal joy he is experiencing be far greater than the pain we are carrying and let his testimony keep impacting the world.
