William L. “Bill” Erhart, 80, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away May 19, 2021, after a short terminal illness.
Bill was born on September 17, 1940, in Mansfield, Ohio, the son of the late Joseph J. “Joe” and Doris M. (Porter) Erhart. He was a 1958 graduate from Madison High School in Mansfield, Ohio. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Bill was self-employed as a barber, also working and retiring from the Madison School system maintenance department. Bill was a member of the VFW Post 3494, and served as commander 1994-1995. He also served on the R.C. Joint Veterans Burial Detail for many years.
Bill loved the Lord and his family, and especially enjoyed all the laughter and fun involved in family gatherings. He also enjoyed his faithful canine companion, Buddy. One of his favorite hobbies was working with flowers and plants.
He is survived by his sons, William M. Erhart of Mansfield, and Frederick M. Erhart of Georgia; daughter, Angel J. Erhart of Kentucky; grandchildren, Mark Noonan, Emily and Jack Erhart, Taylor, Bailie, Ray, and Billy; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Chase, and Shawn; brother, Joseph O. (Carol) Erhart; and sister, Patricia H. (Erhart) Baker, both of Mansfield.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Michael D. Erhart, who was killed while serving his country in Vietnam; daughter-in-law, Brenda (Fred) Erhart; and grandson.
Calling hours will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 24, 2021, at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Ave. East, Mansfield. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at the funeral home, with calling hours starting at 12:00 p.m. Pastor Rob Kurtz will be officiating the service. Burial will follow at Lantz Cemetery, with R.C. Joint Veteran’s Burial Detail performing Military Honors.
