William "Red" Leroy Taylor, 81, of Lucas, Ohio, passed away July 9, 2021 at home with family members by his side, after a short battle with cancer.
He was preceded in death by the late mother, Gladys James Carr; stepfather, Edward Carr; and father, Harlan Taylor; two brothers, James and Robert Taylor; and granddaughter, Courtney Bear.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Theresa Taylor and 4 children; Cindy Wamsley of Fredericktown Ohio, Cheryl Taylor of Lucas, Ohio, William (Kathy)Taylor of Mansfield, Ohio, and Cathy Taylor (Jeff Dever) of Bellview, Florida; four grandchildren, Willie Wamsley, Travis Bradford, Jordynn (Justin) Liggett, and McKynna Taylor; and four great-grandchildren, Izzy Wamsley, Amelia Wamsley, Cameron Bear, and Jackson Liggett.
He served his country in the Army Reserves for 2 years and retired after 33 years of service from Empire Detroit (Armco) of Mansfield, Ohio. William enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, golfing, dancing (2stepping), fishing, old vintage cars, and gaming forest rescue on facebook. He was also an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan. William was a member of several social clubs where he did his dancing at Moose Lodges, AMVETS, VFW and Eagles.
Calling hours will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home with full military honors performed by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail.
